I don't know who Wayner Dyer is, but I am stealing his quote to share with you. This one hit home for me. Right up there with "if you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got.
Changing my pattern of behavior and how I think about food is so hard some days. It is so much easier to continue with our learned behaviors. These are behaviors and thought processes that over the years have become automatic , and easy, and ...... destructive!
I am committed to working hard every day to change, to make better choices that is. Some days it is so difficult. I get tired of telling waitress that yes, I really do not want any dressing on my salad, or spending extra time at the grocery store reading food labels, or popping my own popcorn for the movies ( friends really give you a weird look on those days) .
But today's a new day and more and more of these behaviors are becoming easier. My friends will now even warn the waitress ahead of time that they better write my order down 'cause I have alot of requests!!
The way I look and feel about food IS changing , and you know what? The way I look and feel is changing too....
The process continues....... off to circuit class I go!
What a great group of people doing some exceptional things. How about this quote:

I started doing this with Lorrie almost four months ago. I was seriously unhappy and feeling out of control. Lorrie was different. She was fine! She just wanted to be more disciplined and eat a little better without depriving herself. We both decided to go down the same path. Identify a Prize; less is more; satisfaction vs deprivation; no excuses; support each other. Our methods have been much different, because our issues and Prizes are much different. BUT IT IS WORKING FOR US BOTH! It is working because we are doing the leg work...no excuses, no roadblocks. Boy, you talk about worth it. It's nice having a little momentum, isn't it Lorrie.
I have to reprint your comment from our last Prize Club meeting. This epitomizes the change in mindset we keep refering to.
“It was the Super Bowl, and I didn’t want to deprive myself”. How frieking cool was it to hear her then say “but I really don’t know why I would consider it (eating right) depriving myself in the first place”. That really epitomizes what the PC is all about. So what if it is the Super Bowl? That is the old mindset. Eat…enjoy yourself, just remember there is a greater Prize. Feeling good the next day is important, too. Good stuff Lorrie. Thanks!
Thanks for beiong such an inspiration!
In talking with my husband about some of what is going on in your "blog world," he brought up a little nugget of goodness to go along with what Lorrie is saying!! "The way I look and feel about food IS changing , and you know what? The way I look and feel is changing too...." The world is just that, the world. The way we all view it is another thing, and usually something different for everyone. The way we view a problem, typically is the problem itself. Thus we have the Lense Principle.... It all depends on the contacts you decide to put in that day. Again, this is all your choice, which contacts you put in are totally your choice! Pretty powerful I think!
ReplyDeleteI am working on keeping my contacts as clean as possible!
Way to go, Lorrie!!! I so admire you hanging in there on the really hard days. Your commitment to your Prize is powerful and so are you! Thanks for the great quotes from "authors," but I like yours just as much. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteJust a short note from me (Randa), mostly as an
experiment to see if I have posted correctly.
Anyway, this is a huge step for me. I am part
of the original PC group and I thank you for
including me on this blog. More will follow as
I get used to the format. Randa
